Spring Sing (Warning... Bodily Fluids involved!)

Katie has been so excited for the "Spring Sing" at her preschool. She has been talking about it for weeks and practicing her songs in her room, car, park etc. etc.
The day of the program, she had been complaining off and on all day about a belly ache. It mostly happened around eating times. I just assumed she was hungry and went on with life. At dinner she started complaining again that her belly just hurt and she couldn't finish. I asked her if she felt nervous about her program. (For those of you who know her, this is very unlike Katie to be nervous about anything.) She said she wasn't and she thought she just ate too much and wanted to go to her program. She whined a little about her belly on the way there, but at soon as we got there she was all smiles and ran to play with her friends.
So there we were like good parents with our camcorder, SLR with the zoom lens and grandma in tow enjoying the program. About twenty minutes into the program I notice Katie rubbing her belly and shifting positions. I thought to myself, "You should go pull her aside and see if she's ok." Then of course, I think I'm over reacting and continue eyeing the program through my tiny video camera screen. Sometimes I hate that thing. You can't really enjoy the activity at hand because you're so engrossed with the zoom in and zoom out and oh don't shake too much. But, of course, we do it for posterity's sake. Anyway, I notice the color draining from Katie's face at a rapid rate. She is not even hitting her instrument with the mallet anymore it's practically falling out of her hand, and then, Ohhhh, she's throwing up. I'm hopping over chairs tossing the video camera at Todd. Katie's looking terrified and embarrassed and confused. The preschool teachers are panicking and finally I'm too my poor child. We race to the bathroom where she "spits up" a little more and then she's good. I say spit up because this was far less of an ordeal than one of Joey's spit ups. My mom refers to it as a "dainty hiccup". Really, can you be "dainty" when you throw up? But, as I replayed the video a day later, it really was like a wet "dainty" hiccup.

So, Katie's teacher is trying to console her in the bathroom and saying things like, it's ok, you should go home and snuggle in your bed in some comfy jammies. I hope you feel better. And Katie looks at her and says, "I want to go sing." Well ok. So we head back in and the preschool director/piano player says "Mother, you're not planning on letting her go back and sing are you? Of course, I say no and we are just going to stay and watch. Which really was the truth, I was worried Katie might have another "dainty hiccup," but still it kinda rubbed me wrong. I guess it was more her tone than anything that ticked my off. I mean and is she ok or something first and then the are you.... would have been better.

Of course, Katie was devastated. She sat on my lap and pouted while the kids sang all sorts of awesome preschool songs with props and dance steps. I have to admit I was a little sad she couldn't sing. I would have loved to see her pretend to be a fish. But, by the end, she was her ole singing self from the back row on my lap. Gotta love that girl! Unfortunately, she has been very sad about it since and wishes "that Miss Dee would not have been so mean and let her go back and sing!" So we have had many "Spring Sings" around the house since!

Ouch!

This is what you get when you combine the following:
1) 4 year old going potty and excited to go to Grandma's house
2) 4 year old learning about privacy and wanting door closed so Joey doesn't watch
3) Joey running to bathroom to watch and grabbing door in between hinge and door
4) Katie slamming door for privacy while sitting on potty

I'm so terrible at blogging lately that this was on Easter. He cried for 45 minutes straight and wouldn't use his left hand for several days after. The poor guy's nail has since fallen off. His finger looks like his daddy's fungus infested toes. And, Joey has learned the word "ouie" very very well. Once again, mother of the year award here!

Easter, 15 months & LOTS of pictures

Our Joe Bob's has officially hit the 15 month mark! And with it has come his new bag of tricks. I mean the kid is capable of destructing a mile a minute. A few fun things I don't want to forget:

22 lbs.~all that mischief has been a good diet. Keeps the thunder thighs to a minimum.

He seems to learn a new word a day lately. Some of his recents include:

Kay...die (Katie) Bankie (blankie) Pane (Plane) NoNo (no no~this is a fun one. He shakes his head as he sayes it) Hewo (Hello) umph umph (woof woof) Bay (Baby) Ouie (Ouie) Qis (Kiss)Bunny (bunny~ knows this one well after being traumatized by the mall bunny!)

I really do adore toddler speech. It is absolutely endearing.

He waves his hand like he's leading the music if it classical or churchy.

He bounces up and down, bends his knees and twists to all other music.

He is obsessed with Baby Einstein and yet completely frustrated when the puppets go off the side of the screen. He is just sure they must be in the TV somewhere, so he'll try to peer in the sides.

Definitely not as good of an eater as he was 2 weeks ago.

Loves balls and his Cozy Coupe car.

Love this boy!

These two were cracking me up. It is virtually impossible to take pictures of them together. I think we got a good laugh though!

Easter Egg Hunt at my parents house. Katie was so great to hold the bag for Joey to put the eggs in. It didn't take him too long to figure out how the ole hunt worked!

Luckily, the Easter Bunny found our house. Katie was so worried about how he was going to come in our house. Truth be told, I didn't have an answer on that one, so I was glad he showed as well!
Dying eggs with daddy! Daddy looks a little "out to lunch." I suppose that happens when you've been awake all night! Joey was dying to get his hand into that dye!
Church Easter Party!

We are grateful for the meaning of this hoilday. What a wonderful sacrifice our Savior made for us.
It was fun to teach Katie more about the meaning of Easter. She was very upset about how cruel they were Jesus. She had a hard time understanding why anyone would want to hurt him. She kept reminding me that Jesus is happy now and is resurrected. I think she got it this year!
