My adorable boy....at two years

JOSEPH

Just a few snippets that make you, YOU!

Favorite Foods: CHEESE, CHEESE and more CHEESE! You love anything with cheese. There are the usuals, of course— mac and cheese, brown soup aka Ramen, cheese sandwiches and PB&J. Anything chocolate or sweet is a given--you get that from me, of course! Veges are definitely not your strong suit. I don't think I can get you to eat a one right now. Mandarin oranges, strawberries and bananas are always a hit in the fruit department. I'm convinced your favorite meal of the day is breakfast. I can get you to eat most anything for breakfast. (Maybe I'll try some veges then. Unfortunately, I feel terrible forcing you to eat anything I wouldn't which is probably why you are in a vege deficit!) You do have a few odd loves for a toddler. You love salmon and couscous and will request seconds before most of us are even through with round one.

Favorite Movies/TV: Hands down it's Woody Buzz (Toy Story)! You could watch it most days if I would let you. You also are a huge fan of Mickey Mouse clubhouse. It's the first thing you ask for when we get home from the gym or taking Katie to preschool. Thank heavens for that Disney Channel or I wouldn't have a shower most days. I love to hear you say "Oh toodles" and then stare bright eyed and mouth opened while nodding your head to the questions Mickey asks. Like your sister you are completely unfamiliar with Sesame Street. The one time I turned it on for you you could have cared less and walked right up to the TV and turned it off!

Favorite Words: I love your little voice!!! I don't ever want the innocence and curiosity of it to go away. It really is like music to my ears to hear you say, ”Love you mommy." I could listen to you forever. You are SO vocal and you CONSTANTLY amaze me. I can’t think of anything you can’t tell me. You’re a regular little chatter monkey. I remember hitting a serious rough patch with your sister from 18 months until about 2 years where we had such a hard time understanding her and she would get so frustrated with us. I'm quite certain that you are such a wonderful talker because of her. You have watched her and listened to her so much that you can easily express yourself with words. She adores when you learn a new word and love when she understands what you are saying!
Like your sister, you also love to sing. You have a CD full of lullabies that we play every time you go to bed. You love it and you will say to me, "Mommy, no sing. Joey sing to mommy." Then with your sweet little voice you sing me a few words of the song as we rock back and forth in the rocking chair. Occasionally, you will look up at me as you are singing and get embarrassed and nestle into my chest tighter. Oh, those are some of my most favorite moments!

Favorite Animal: You remain TERRIFIED of all animals!!!! It is of great concern to your father. For example: The other day we were walking home from church and a neighbors cat decided to follow us. You loved him as long as he stayed two houses away. Of course, as we neared our house I put you down to walk. I had completely forgotten about the cat. As I put your feet on the ground you started to scream and cry hysterically! You were trying to climb up my legs and just acting completely nuts. I finally realized you were screaming that the kitty was going to get you and for me to hold you. I picked you up and turned around expecting to see the kitty right behind my legs. He was only one house away. Apparently, much to close for comfort in your eyes.
You do love to see giraffes and elephants on daddy's computer. You ask for it almost nightly!

Favorite DEMANDS: Mommy, NO WORK! Baff(bath)! No shower. My trains. No ursey (nursery). Change it diaper. These requests are always made with serious passion.

Favorite Toys: Trains, cars, Trains, cars, baby dolls and trains. You love to play trains. The other night you sat on floor and played with your Thomas train set for an hour without mommy or daddy. You were in heaven as you took those cars around and around the track. You also love to play cars. Your favorite are the school bus and the trash man. Your favorite stuffed animal is your brown doggy right now. But, it is imperative that all your animals accompany you to bed. If Katie is playing with her dolls, you have to be right there doing exactly what she is. I've never seen a little boy quite so worked up about a baby doll's poopy diaper or how she must be rocked sleep. You are going to be the best big brother. But, the most necessary item of all is your blanket.

And just a few areas where you’re trying your best to test me: Refusing to go potty. You are completely aware of when you need to go potty. You've even gone in the big potty a few times. It's maddening when you say to me, "Mommy, be right back, ok." And then you go into a room, shut the door, do your business and casually walk out saying, "change it diaper."

You used to love nursery until the neighbor girl side lined you into a pole and then kicked you after you had fallen down. Now you scream hysterically and refuse to stay in nursery unless I stay with you. Lately, when we start getting your church clothes on you grab my face between your little hands and say, "no ursery, day ok mommy."

Sucking your thumb! You're terrible. The dentist has already informed me that your mouth is being affected by it. When I tell you "no suck" you look right at me and grin while taking your thumb out. In less than 5 seconds it's right back there again. You are such a little stinker!

THANK YOU for being so snugglie and needing that extra 10 minutes of snuggling every morning with me in my bed.
-Thank you for taking good long naps and sleeping consistently solid 11-12 hour nights.
-Thank you for having such a wildly funny sense of humor at 2 and making silly faces and annoying but funny noises just to make me or daddy or Katie laugh.
-Thank you for your cute little run and the way you throw and kick a ball.
-Thank you for the amazing "strawber cakes" you always make me.
-Thank you for your ocean blue eyes and blond curls.
-Thank you for your slobbery kisses and the way your wrap your little arms around my neck to hug me.
-Thank you for loving your sister so much that you sometimes cry when she has to go to preschool and as soon as we walk in the door from dropping her off you are ready to pick her up.
-Thank you---THANK YOU for making this family as complete as it could possibly be right now. We are so thankful that Heavenly Father sent you our way. You are perfect!

Happy Birthday Joe!

What could be better than a birthday hat, an animal cake, a birthday song and a new bike?
Joey's faces during them all!

OHHH, HOW I ADORE THIS LITTLE BOY!
