Daddy's Birthday

He requested a chocolate cake.
The kids decided it had to be a fish cake..because daddy loves to fish!
Mom decided cupcakes were the easiest.
Daddy loved it!
Happy 34th Birthday to my fish loving husband!

Father's Day

Father's Day was a bit of a bummer for this poor dad. Todd was on call all day which means he left around 4 am or maybe even earlier I don't remember I just know it was super early and then he got home around 11pm that night. So, our poor children were only able to wish their awesome daddy Happy Father's Day on the phone! At least he got to come home to this fun diplay of homemade cards, banner and presents! We love him so much. He was one great daddy!

Eight Years

Yesterday was our eight year anniversary! And despite how cliche' it sounds, it doesn't seem like that long. The years seem to be in fast forward lately!

We celebrated on Friday with a nice dinner at The Copper Onion in downtown Salt Lake. It was the first time we left little John and he did great! Dinner was amazing! We highly recommend the place. We kept joking through dinner about who was the chef, sous chef and the saucier. We felt like we were so well-educated with high end restaurant lingo thanks to Ratatouille. If that doesn't say parent of a small child I don't know what does! I actually braved a dish with oxtail in it. When I first read the description of the dish I thought "oxtail ragout" was some sort of fancy cheese. I know, total airhead. I'm blaming it on extreme sleep deprivation! Then I made the mistake of asking our waitress. When she confirmed it was actually an oxtail in the dish all I could picture was this cow in a field swatting his tail back and forth at the flies. Then a pasta dish with an oxtail laid across it came next. There was no way I was ordering that. Somehow I got talked into it and it was pretty good. Tasted like pulled pork, but with beef.

As we talked and laughed through dinner I kept thinking of how grateful I was that he was mine. That after eight years we can still have a non-child related conversation. He makes my heart pitter patter. I adore the way he throws his head back when he laughs. I love the way he plays with our children. I could go on and on. But, mostly, I love the way he loves me.

Oh, how I love him/them!

Who's John

Scenario #1
The other night Todd and I were lounging on the couch. He was working on something kayak, ski or work related and I was enjoying some uninterrupted time with baby John. At one point, John was doing something cute and the conversation went something like this....

Me: "Look at John."

Todd: no response

Me: "Todd, look at John"

Todd with a puzzled look: "Who's John."

Me: "You know, your son."

Todd: "Oh, that's right, I forgot we named him John."

Me laughing hysterically: "Hmm, weren't you the one that came up with the name John?!"

Scenario #2
One rainy afternoon I was playing with the children in the basement when Todd got home from work. He greeted Joey and Katie with a kiss. (I was sitting on the couch holding baby John.) As he turned around to greet me he seemed very surprised. Then he said, "Oh, I forgot we had three kids. Hi baby."

Apparently, he's having a little trouble adjusting to three kids!
