Bet you can't guess where this post is going?!
So, our sweet Katie got a bee in her bonnet and took the shears to her hair.
For months she has been trying to grow her hair as long as Mulan's (the Disney movie). Everytime it's time for a trim she is so worried I'm going to cut too much off and she won't be like Mulan any more. So, of course I assumed she would never do
this. Well, I learned to never underestimate our little Katie.
After a night of call at the hospital for me and Todd significantly deficient in the sleep department we let our guard down. In she bounced at 6:45 am. So, being the steller mother I am I trotted her down to TV to watch Little Einsteins for one more coveted half hour of sleep. Generally, this is a show she can't remove her eyes from, so naturally, I assume she would do the same today.
Oh, was I so very wrong. The next thing I know, she is standing at the edge of the bed staring at me. I'm not sure how long she was standing there before I came to. She has this ability to sneak in so quietly and then she'll just stand there and wait. When you finally open your eyes she's less than 5-10 inches from you face just staring. Scares me to DEATH. So compound that with the picture of her hair cut in all different places. I about died!

When I finally found my voice I calmly asked, "Did you cut your hair?"
(As if I didn't know-what a stupid question.) Katie, "No."
"Hmmm, it sure looks like you did. Where did you put all the hair?"
"Behind the couch."
"Why did you cut your hair. "
"I don't know."
"I guess we're going to have to cut it all off now. That makes mommy very sad. "
"No, No please don't cut it off.
crying We can put it back on."
"No, Katie, we can't."
"But why mom?"
sobbing hystericallySo this exchange went on for a little while until I was able to brush through it and decided it might not be that bad. I had a few hours before church to try and fix it. But then, my phone rang and it was back to work in a matter of minutes and Todd was left with the hair mess to deal with before church. And being the wonderful stylist he is, he did nothing with it for church. Katie took matters into her own hands and sprayed a few sprays of hairspray right next to her head and called it good.
I made it to church a little late to see her hair in all its glory~butched, crusty and glued to her head. It was all I could do to stay at church and look at it. I was dying to take her howm and fix it and then come back. But I didn't and I'm probably the only one who noticed her ridiculous hair.
Needless to say, I cut off over 7 inches and I actually think it looks really cute. The jury is still out for Katie. I think she secretly likes it though. Lately, she's been doing this cute little hair toss. I think it's provided her with a little more sass. I find it very amusing and extremely cute! Gotta love this girl. Oh, and her hair was exactly where she said it was~ behind the couch in a perfect little nest. I couldn't help but laugh!
