Paging Dr. Clevenger

So, the benefits of being married to a doctor just went to a new level! About two weeks ago I started having this terrible pain on the left side of my upper jaw. I was worried it might be a cavity, but soon after it began radiating to my lower left jaw as well. I had had a bit of a sinus cold for a few weeks, so I started to investigate. After sometime on the wonderful internet I had diagnosed myself with mandibular sinusitis. A unique characteristic of this type is a "toothache". Well, of course, when Todd got home that night I asked him for a script. After researching it himself he wrote me a script. I filled in the next morning and am happy to say that I am well again!!! Oh, and this is my first picture post with the new camera. There will be more to come on that!!

My Boy! Two Months...Plus a little

It's certainly hard to believe that my little guy is already two months old. I am a little late with this post, but I do have a great reason.
We took Joey to the Dr. on Thursday, March 13th with a small cold. (It is absolutely impossible to protect him from a 3 year old in the house with a cold!) I asked her when I should be conerned if it had turned into RSV. Her reply was, "I'm sure he has RSV now, but his lungs are clear so continue to watch him and make sure his work of breathing doesn't increase." Great, I thought. This poor kid cannot get a break. The next couple days came and went with him getting a little worse, but nothing scary. Sunday morning at 2 am we were contemplating the ER. He was definitely retracting with his breathing and he couldn't breath and eat at the same time. Todd and I didn't want to take him to the hospital and risk the possibilty of another infection on top of the one he had unless we absolutely had to. Well, we made it through the night and the next and the next without going to the doctor or the hospital. It was a scary week or so, but I am happy to report he is well!

A few 2 month tidbits......

-He weighs a whopping 10 lbs 10.4 ounces and 23.5 inches long. (Exactly 4 pounds more than the day he left the NICU) We were hoping to be nearer to the 12 lb mark, but who are we kidding with parents like us.

-His spitting has decreased--most days!

-He loves to be near the action. He is totally aware of when he has been left behind in a room and screeches to let you know. The second you walk back in and talk to him he hushes. What a pill!!!

-He loves to play with Katie and she loves to play with him. The other day she had her little stuffed dog right in his face and it was barking and whimpering. I was sure he would scream or cry, but he just kept grinning.

-He sleeps from about 9 pm until 5 am these days. Not too bad considering the Dr. told me not to expect a reflux baby to sleep through the night until at least after cereal! Hooray, he wasn't the norm with that stat.

-He loves to coo at the "baby" in the mirror.

-He's a snuggler!

-He is completely aware of when a person is eating. He makes these funny lizard movements with his tongue while watching you eat. It is hysterical. Maybe we'll get a fat baby after all!

-Slight male-patterned baldness, but his hair is returning. Thank Heavens!

Easter Sunday

I have been wanting to make Katie and Joey something matching for awhile. I finally did it. After several nights at the sewing machine and ignoring my husband in the evenings we have matching church clothes. I do believe this will be the first and the last. It was so much easier to sew with just Katie. Now it seems when one is asleep the other is awake making it difficult to do anything but clean, cook and do laundry. Oh, the mounds of laudry that come with a spitty baby. And, did I ever mention it is my least favorite household chore. I frequently tell Todd the odds of me asking for a cleaning lady are not high, but a laundry lady, you bet!!!! Anyway, I'm sure you can guess what I spent the day doing!

After two months Joey made his church debut. I was a bit hesitant still, but it was Easter. We actually made it on time to 9 am church. It's hard to believe I got up two hours before church and we breezed in at 9:01. Not Bad!

Easter Dinner at my parents

I found these darling chicks and rabbits on sale at Roberts. I gave them to my mom for the Easter table. Look at the fabulous job she did putting it together. It was definitely the picture of spring. I absolutely love the flowers. Who would have thought carnations could look so beautiful. I keep thinking if I weren't already married these would be the on the table at my wedding.

Dinner was amazing as always. There was plenty to go around and around again! Thanks mom and dad!

The Three Boys!

Kyle (3 months), Tyler (1 month) & Joey (2 months)

Ready, Set, Go!

Here are the girls just before the start of the hunt. My parents had quite a few eggs hidden. The girls made out quite well. They were so excited to find the eggs. All through dinner they were surveying the scene.

The adults didn't do too bad either. Our eggs were hidden a little higher and they contained money!!! The winnings are as follows:

The low end ---- Bryan and Amy with $1.15
The high end----Ross $20
Casey $20
Thein betweeners---the rest of us

Easter Festivities on Saturday

Aunt Beth invited us to go to the Lavender Farm in Mona, UT for some Easter festivities. It was a warm sunny day until we got out of the car. The farm was located near a small lake and the wind was definitely blowing. There was a whole list of activities to do and we started off with a bang. As the time wore on there it seemed to get colder. We made it to face painting, rock climbing, picture with the bunny and the ponies. The pony rides were our downfall. First, for some reason they positioned the line in the shade which equals cold. Second, there were only six ponies and a large line. Third, as we approached our turn it was time for the ponies to take a 10 minute break which somehow turned into a 35 minute break. It seemed the BYU students who were supposed to be helping with the pony event had disappeared during the pony break. Finally, Todd had had it and asked the pony lady if the parents could stand in for the students with their children. She agreed, thank heavens!!! We were moving and she gave the girls a longer ride than normal because of the long wait. Needless to say we did not make it on the wagon ride to the egg hunt because we were all popsicles. The girls didn't even whimper over the loss of an egg hunt!

Vacation

So, we got smart this time with our vacation. Instead of trying to cram all kinds of events in one week we picked one and it was a definite success. We went about 30 minutes away to Deer Valley with our good friends, Nik and Brooke, from medical school. They were kind enough to let us crash at their parents home conviently located on the ski slopes at Deer Valley. It was amazing. It was definitely the best way to ski with children. Katie and Elle would ski whenever they wanted and we were able to put them down for naps when they were worn out. It was also great because we could rotate for babysitting duty with all the babies, so everyone was able to ski. It was a true vacation! Other than some sore muscles I think we are all refreshed. Thanks Nik and Brooke and the rest of the Foulger clan!!!!
Because of the rotating for skiing I am missing a few pictures of the girls from skiing. When I get them I will post them!
Here are a few of the girls playing playdoh together. It was definitely a hit, but a mess.

Katie was in heaven in the hot tub. It was the perfect bribe for finishing all of her dinner!
Again, I'm missing a few of the best pictures.

7 weeks and skiing?????

I know it's hard to believe, but yes, Joey took his first ski trip last Friday (I'm a little slow to post). That little hot pink head poking out of Todd's jacket is Joey. We are hoping he isn't too offended by the hot pink suit he was in. We don't have a "boy color" fleece for him, so he made the inaugural trip in Katie's old dudds. He seemed to be a fan of the whole experience. He slept and there was no spitting.

All Smiles!!!

There's nothing that tickles a new mom (round 2) more than the first smile!! Joey's been working/trying to perfect it for about a week. For several days it was the half grin. Only one side, usually the right, would make it up. It was really fun to watch him try and make the whole thing work. Then one day, wall-uh there it was on Monday. And of course it's a chain reaction for all involved. Katie gets excited, mommy gets excited and then Joey gets even more excited. His arms and legs are flying everywhere and then BOOM the spit up comes and the moment is gone. Katie just loves to try and make him smile. She just beams when he smiles after all her efforts.

I've decided your first baby is the one with all of the traditional firsts and they are so exciting and you worry will you feel the same with number two. But, you get a whole new set of firsts with number 2 because of a sibling PLUS, you get all the traditional firsts in a completely different way. I just love watching Katie get excited about him and Joey getting excited about Katie. I'm sure this is just the beginning of many "firsts" they'll have together!
