He's Home!!!!

We brought Joseph home on Friday morning!! YEAHHH!! I kept holding my breath as we were getting ready to leave praying that nothing would go wrong between the NICU doors and our car. I didn't want to leave him there another second.

I must admit the whole discharge thing was quite backwards. Todd had worked that night so we had two cars at the hospital. Rather than try to explain to him where I had parked the car I just went to get the car. So there I was in the driver's seat while Todd loaded Joseph in the car and then I drove him to his car. We definitely got a few strange looks. But, lets be honest here, if I had seen that situation I would have thought a few things about the husband myself. Good thing I have the best husband in the world so it doesn't matter.

Katie has had quite a cold for the last week, but we were able to pull the mask down for a few second to snap this picture. I think it's one of my favorites!! She also got Joseph a stuffed giraffe to welcome him to this world. She's always trying to stuff it in his basket. She's just sure he needs it in order to sleep--like she needs her friend Ribby to sleep with. The sad thing is, is that on the way into the hospital the night of the birth we think her favorite animal, a stuffed frog named Ribby, was dropped. We have searched and called everywhere. We're still holding out hope he has been stuffed in a corner in the house instead of lying in a snowbank somewhere.

Todd and I could not stop laughing as we strapped Joseph into his carseat. He just seemed too small to put in there.

Grandma Sue and Papa were so excited to finally hold him.

Hey Melissa and Todd,
I am so happy for you all that Joseph was able to come home - I know that it probably felt like an eternity, especially since you are a NICU nurse, Melissa, and you wanted him home ASAP!! He is just precious! It looks like Katie has been a great big sister to her new little brother (I remember at first she didn't like the idea). I hope that you all, especially Todd, have been able to enjoy some relaxing, quality family time with your new bundle of joy! You all look great! Take care!
Love,
Lauren & Warner Starkey

How happy is that! I'm so glad he made it home as soon as he did. What a miracle that everything worked out so well. You are the cutest little family. Joseph is darling! I bet Katie is in heaven...I'm sure she'll be Joseph's second mother. We are finally feeling better, and we don't have sick germs to spread (knock on wood) so let me know if you need help. We are happy to help with Katie, if she ends up in Ogden with G'ma and G'pa. We love you guys!

He's got the look of a man destined to be huckin' a 95 mph fastball in about 17 years......

Hey Melissa, I'm glad baby Joseph finally made it home after a rough start. I've known Rocky and April since college. April and I were in the same sorority. She actually used to be a child life specialist at Primarys before you started. Good luck with everything. Keep me posted. Chelsa
