A Bug's Ball

Katie had her first dance recital a few weeks ago. She was so excited and wasn't a bit scared. She said to me after, "I loved dancing on the big stage with the pretty ballerinas, but the lights were really bright and I couldn't see you mom." Oh, I love her. She still needs me!
She did awesome!!! She was an ant. Yes, a black ant! A very cute ant though. I must admit I expected a little more of a costume than they gave her. She was wearing a black leotard, tights and a purple headband with pipe cleaner antennas. I expected at least a little black tutu for the $50 RENTAL fee--yes RENTAL fee. Isn't that the major fun part about dance, getting to wear an over the top tulle costume and then playing dress up at home?!

Unfortunately, her dance studio and the Marriott Center for Dance prohibit picture taking during the preformance. They are worried it will distract and frighten the performers. PLEASE! We all know they just want to make more money. You couldn't even video tape the thing. Oh, and the photography company who took the pictures charges an arm and a leg for the pictures and then you aren't even allowed to post them to your blog. Big Bummer!!

***If you can't tell, I'm a little perturbed about the whole thing. Needless to say, I don't think we'll be dancing with them next year.
