I haven't had a good hair experience since my awesome friend Jenni moved to Portland four years ago. I am terrified to go and pay up the wazoo for something terrible again.
The last lady I went to was actually on the phone when she took me back to her station, left me there, went to mix color, came back still on the phone and just started in. I didn't even want the same color. And, I was way too nice I totally should have stopped her and made her get off the phone before she did my hair. So, partly my fault, but seriously unprofessional in my opinion.
I would love to find that stay at home mom who does hair for a cheaper amount than the outrageous salon prices. I swear, every time I go its an additional 10-15 dollars. I love when you can tell them kind of what you're thinking and they take it and run with it and make it even better than you thought. Or, they tell you you are up in the night and they have a better idea.
If anyone out there knows of anyone in the Salt Lake Valley give or take a few miles please share.
*By reasonable price I mean 60-80 dollars for a cut and partial highlight. Remember we are still poor.

Okay, I had so much to catch up on! I have been the world's worst blogger lately...such a slacker! Anyway, I laughed so hard at all your funny posts! And yes, I'm with you on the whole hair expense/frustration/situation. I finally found someone I really like out here. I used to go to the hair college in Salt Lake, the trick is you have to get a "senior", who really knows what their doing. I would always get to know them really well before they graduated (which was always the bummer) and then I would move onto the next. (and I would always secretly ask who was really good) Anyway, for a hair cut that was always really good was about $8.00, and for my weave it was $35.00. (and $5.00 for an extra color because I would do two blondes to every brown.) I'm pretty specific, and I was probably their nightmare client but I seriously didn't care one bit. Oh, and plus tip. Anyway the whole thing ended up costing me like $55.00 total. Awesome! The owners knew me and everything! Which was also a bonus because they have to pass it off with the instructors, so they would always pay extra attention to my hair because they knew me. I miss those days...I haven't really found a hair college out here but I should try harder. Anyway, I miss you guys, and it would be fun to get together for the holidays...I don't know if we're coming up that way but we'll be flying in on the 17th. p.s. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the pictures you took of Jackie, Kyle, and Casey! So adorable. You did a great job!
That was a really long comment! Sorry.
I know someone in Ashland... :) I was just there last night and she's awesome. Is that enough incentive to move here?
I'm right there with ya...my new baby bangs are growing back in...straight up. I can't remember how long it took my hair to get back to "normal" last time.
Kami Reese just did mine. She did a great job and gave a discount since we work with her.
I will recommend Kami too! she only charges 45 for two colors!!! she is great. I think she has done a lot of peoples hair on the unit!
